As part of the second grade curriculum at Avenues: The World School in New York City, the students learn about shelters around the world. Within this unit of study, second graders learned that shelters are designed and constructed to meet environmental and cultural needs. We began our work by looking at our home and others in New York City, Before long, students wondered what home were like in other places. So we began looking for other classroom collaborators to help us create a book on shelter around the world.
